Mini Mixed Fleet
Round Four
6th August 2015
A humdinger of a competition between Peter Jackson (30, Puma-ish) and Mike Ewart (36, Grog 800*) it was really quite close in the light wind conditions. PJ sailed the most consistantly and with his swing rig was benefiting in the light airs especially on the down wind sections, he was unlucky that Mike discarded the only three races where he under performed. Had PJ not taken the wrong course and let Peter Shepherd (101, Wee Nip) and Mike by in race eight he would have took the spoils.
* Don't ask!

Further down the fleet Peter Shepherd was the best of the Wee Nips sailing Black & White, he was occassionally able to mix it with the leading two but had to hope they slipped up to record a race win. Norman Hardy (72, Fat Boy) misunderstood and brought his Footy, we let him sail, and with it's "Justin" rig and the light conditions it was going very nicely.
Geoff Raygada (57, Wee Nip) was back from his holiday in body if not in mind, Tim Leese (93, Puma) just didn't seem to be able to get his RG65 going after been beset by technical problems early on.
A welcome visitor to our shores was Paul Strong, who brought news of the sailing at Cransley and other former clubs, he narrowly lost out to Tim by having only 7's to discard.
The sunshine was most pleasent, the assembled company most enjoyable, the racing conditions tricky at times but with some inventive course setting we managed to have interesting races on the Main lake.
The next event in the calendar at Abington park was due to be Round 3 of the Micro 540 12th September, however with all but one of the likely competitiors now owning Six Metre Yachts this will be rescheduled.
