Wee Nip Racing

With Wee Nips coming out of workshops thick and fast there were ten skippers with boats at this months Medal Competition, another four who are currently in the process of building came along to glean information. Two of the skippers were first time racers with the Wee Nip Keith Coxon and Sid Sims. As we have come to expect the racing was extreemely close, or at least it was behind this months runaway winner, Keith Coxon took away the prize with a great performance sailing Glen Keith (55) scoring only fourteen points after discards across the sixteen races.
There was nothing to choose between the rest of the pack with only nine points separating second from sixth, filling in that second spot was Paul Risdale with Pigs Nose (53) closely followed by Peter Jackson's Red Rooster (30), Mike Ewart's Ardbeg (36), Norman Hardy's Red Hackle (72) and Peter Shepherd's Sheep Dip.

New to Wee Nips skipper Sid Sims, with Spring Side (05) on it's maiden outting had his own private battle with Nigel Rudd & Long John wherever you looked these two seemed to occupy the same piece of water.
The remaining skippers were thwarted in their efforts by equipment issues and having to retire early however both appeared to enjoy the time they had on the water. The weather was kind only threatening rain once and although the winds were fickle and only light to moderate the boats seemed to nip along at a reasonable rate not allowing any one skipper to get to far in front. Keith thanked the assembled skippers for what had been a most enjoyable event on being awarded the medal & prize as this months winner by Sandra Hardy our ever reliable scorecard dolly. |
