Wee Nip Racing
June 2013
With Red Rooster away with a heavy dose of CLAPA, Pigs Nose & Pinwinne on their holidays, and Lisamore & First Lord with a prior engagement just five of the current Wee Nip skippers attended this months event.
Three new boats hit the water, with two of these doing exceptionally well, the event was also attended by other interested parties who are currently building or embarking on building a Wee Nip, John Meredith of Birmingham MYC, John Davis of Frensham Pond MYC and our own Tim Lees, the two Johns took a couple of turns at sailing Sheep Dip whilst Peter shepherd was on other duties.

_The course was set when the wind was shifting from one end of the
lake to the other so two gates were set at either end with two marks in
the middle the first to be taken to starboard the second to port making a
zig zag course up the lake. The wind never really got going today and
was constantly shifting, and changing strength making the sailing very
tricky, the skipper who coped best with the conditions was Mike Ewart who was sailing Ardbeg in it's maiden event, with his eight race wins he was the pick of the fleet.
Another newcomer to Wee Nip racing was Long John who skippered by Nigel Rudd gradually got better and better throughout the event to finish second just three points ahead of Red Hackle. Norman had clearly got over the excesses of his recent holoiday and sailed very well for his third place. Fourth was Sheep Dip with it's consortium of skippers and completing the line up although suffering some technical issues was Banff skippered by Brian Hawkins. Thanks to everyone for all your help with running the event especiallly to the scorecard maiden, Sandra Hardy who did her best to keep us all in line and officiated at the prize giving award. |
