This is not really a race report rather a short explanation of how the final result was derived, the conditions were extremely light winds hence we only managed eight races. Five Micro 540's took part PJ won the first race and was promoted, followed by Paul Risdale and then Peter Shepherd for races two & three respectively, putting all three on a yellow start. Peter Shepherd then won Race four promoting him to the green start. There was very little to choose between the boats at this stage although the Bermuda rigged boat did appear to be performing marginally better.Lunch was taken and Paul Risdale won race 5 allowing him to join Peter Shepherd on green, unfortunately the very light wind dropped even further forcing us to shorten the course twice in the following races. Peter Shepherd had a technical difficulty in Race 5 which meant he changed to a Footy thereafter. The shortened course and the abysmal conditions meant for Paul & Peter there was very little chance of catching the others.
Richard Smith had a notable win in race seven with the Micro 540 Puma 54, and Nigel Rudd left the water in the last race when in second place having had enough of waiting for the wind to blow, only for it to pick up and push everybody else over the line, bad luck Nigel!
The Wee Nips were steady in the conditions with Brian Hawkins sailing Banff the best we have seen from him yet, and Geoff Raygada trying to find is feet in what were testing conditions even for the more experienced skippers.
Tim Lees Puma RG65 came good in the last race, he just needs to understand his sails better and I am sure he will be up there challenging as well.
